"Ask Mama McNabb" is a vision of mine to help Moms/parents to exist in a world of an child athlete. What should your mindset be as they propel into the professional arena? There's a way we as supportive parents should act as we assist them in their endeavors. The playbook is different for us yet parallel to the playbook of the athlete. I share experiences as I pay it forward in this blog "Ask Mama McNabb."

MAMA'S REVIEWS

I am privileged to have a wonderful mother that cares and that is willing to do. Whatever it takes not just for her family but for others in need. She is loving, determined and charitable. I wouldn't want anyone else but her as my beautiful mother. Mom I Love You.
Your Son,
Donovan

PAYING Forward- Char McNabb
It was in New York the Big Apple year 2010 great things are happening in my family's life my Son Russell Okung is getting drafted to play in the big league what an awesome blessing. I am overwhelmed many things to do places and events to attend, I am excited as well as a bit scared.
Sitting in the green room with Russell and his sister Nicole waiting for his name to be called I see this smiling Lady wearing a #5 Donavan McNabb Jersey walking towards me she hands me a gift bag and introduces herself as Big Mama, gives me a brief gist about her and her organization PFPMA which she was the president at the time and proceeds to further give me contact information.
It felt great I had a leeway there was someone out there who had been in this same position as I was at that time and she was reaching out to me as a mentor. Russell had mentioned to me earlier that he had met Mrs. McNabb at an event the previous night and the Lady had asked about me her name was not familiar to me at the time but it was getting now memorized.
Following week through Wilma Char McNabb I got welcome phone calls and notes in the mail from the Ladies of Pfpma, {Professional Football Players Mother’s Association} The rest is history I did join the organization got a support group whom I could talk to regarding how I could better assist my Son on and off the football field as well as assist our sons in their charitable efforts in the communities from which they came and in which they work not forgetting to support each other.
How do I say thank you? I do that by paying this forward by being of services as well as being a mentor to other new mother coming into the Huge Big Football League Family

Thank you much Mrs. McNabb
AKA - Big MAMA
Dorothy Okung

Mama McNabb is what she is to me. Upon our arrival to the Eagles in 2000, Jon and I were invited to her Offensive Players dinner at the home of her Eagles QB son. This was a way to bond with other players families, realizing how important it was to trust and cherish not only their teammates but, forge friendships like I have with her and the rest of the McNabb family.

Char (Mama) McNabb is a woman of unwavering faith and integrity! Over the years our friendship has blossomed because of her honesty, love and respect to the true meaning of what it is to be a sister friend. I cherish the relationship we now have. Also, I am continuously inspired by the way she lives her life...graciously!
